Give your house numbers a macabre look using colored hot glue. Simply squirt red glue on the edges of your numbers, blowing on the glue as you go to make it cool faster and to control the drops. After Halloween, you can just peel it away.

Make a spooky town filled with haunted houses. Simply pull together a collection of variously sized and shaped birdhouses and spray paint them black and gray. Arrange them any way you like and add in some plastic spiders and a tree branch you’ve painted black.

Recreate this Halloween tree in your own home. Simply find a branch, spray paint it white, black or any color you like, and plant it in a container filled with rocks. Hang orange string lights and decorate your tree with homemade or purchased Halloween ornaments—skeletons, mini pumpkins or whatever you can find.

Make a pumpkin topiary using five pumpkins in various styles. If your pumpkins don’t have carved faces, use a Dremel tool and get creative. Use a spade drill bit to drill 1 inch holes in the top and bottom of your jack o’lanterns. Also drill a hole in the back of each. Thread them on a 6-foot long, 1-inch wide dowel. Feed a strand of Christmas lights through the hole in the back and join the lights together along the back of the stack. Stab the dowel into a plant pot.

Purchase or craft some evil-looking black birds and set them to roost in chandeliers, on shelves, on top of the TV, or anywhere else you’d like to add a touch of creepiness. Maybe put one in the kitchen cupboard, so Junior gets a fright when he goes to get a plate.

Make giant spiders! Attach a larger wire half sphere to a smaller one using zip ties. Attach four ,35-inch pieces of 16-gauge wire to each side of the larger sphere for the legs. Cover the two spheres with faux fur—hot gluing it in place—and then cover the legs with foam tubing. Bend a hook into the end of the leg wire to hold the foam in place. Bend the legs to mimic a spider’s and you've got an extra touch of spooky.
