Many fans of The Simpsons believe the show is from the future due to its innate ability to predict specific events in American culture. R.E.T.R.O. Clothing is following suit by bringing the Assassin sneaker to life. Homer Simpson and Ned Flanders wore the fictional $125 Assassin sneakers in season 2, episode 16.

The American animated sitcom was created by Matt Groening and first aired in 1989. The show is set in a made-up town called Springfield and it parodies (while sometimes also predicting) events in American culture and society.

The original Assassins sneakers took inspiration from the Nike Air Trainer SC worn by baseball and football legend, Bo Jackson. They first appeared on the feet of Ned Flanders in Season 2 of the TV show.

Sold at a retail price of $125 on the show, R.E.T.R.O. Clothing offered them for pre-order at $180 instead. They were released in 2023 after all.

In the show, the high-tech Assassin sneaker features a water pump and a heart rate monitor. Homer purchased his pair at the mall, but they were soon destroyed by Santa's Little Helper – the family dog.
