Olive oil is a super ingredient when it comes to cooking, but it’s also a handy cleaner. You’ll love it so much, you might want to buy a big bottle of cheaper olive oil just for cleaning, and save the expensive extra-virgin stuff for recipes.

Clean your cast iron pans with olive oil and kosher salt. Mix the two to make a scrub, then apply to the pan, using a clean rag or towel to scrape off cooked-on bits. The amazing bonus of this method is that you’re adding more seasoning to your pan.

Olive oil is terrific for washing sticky gunk off your hands. It also works well to remove grease or paint. Pour a teaspoon or so of oil into your hands and scrub briskly. The oil will clean your hands and add moisture, too.

Then apply olive oil to a clean rag and wipe the stainless steel surface in the direction of the grain. Continue wiping until the whole area is clean and shiny. Use a clean, dry towel to buff it to a beautiful shine..
