Nestled in the rolling green hills of Xiuning County, China, is the Qiyun Mountain tree house. Part of Qiyun Mountain’s scenic area, the house is completely surrounded by red cedars.
The treehouse stands amongst a forest of red cedars of about the same height. The 36-foot structure contains seven rooms measuring from six to nine square feet. Bearing in mind that this is still a treehouse, it includes an entrance area, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and a landscape room. Every room is connected by a winding spiral staircase, which starts at the entrance and leads to the common living and landscape rooms.
This place has some major views. The house was designed so that every room provides a panoramic view of the surrounding forest. As you walk up and down the spiral staircase, each of the rooms’ views is different. This makes for a unique experience, magnified by the size of the floor-to-ceiling windows in each room.
Naturally, the rooms in this treehouse were designed to be very small. Fortunately for visitors, the windows are the same size as the opposing walls. No matter what room you’re in, the experience of staying in this treehouse is unique, inside and out.
The treehouse was built with a steel structure, which began with the construction of the staircase’s core and was followed by the cantilevered room layout.
The designers chose red cedar as the material for the structure’s face. There were concerns that wood from other regions might bring plant diseases and pests. The end result was a beautiful and unique structure that stands alongside a beautiful China landscape.
