"Monsters" actress Chloe Sevigny will star with Meghann Fahy in "The Trial of Louise Woodward," a true crime series coming to HBO in 2027.

Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Chloe Sevigny is joining the cast of HBO's Louise Woodward true crime series.

The actress, 51, will star with Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus) in the five-episode limited series The Trial of Louise Woodward.

The new show explores the true story of Louise Woodward, a British au pair who was 18 when she was accused in 1997 of shaking an 8-month-old baby -- the son of her American host family -- to death.

The case set off "an international media firestorm" as the trial unfolded "in full view of both the British and American public," an official description reads.

Catriona Chandler will play Woodward, with Sevigny as her defense attorney, Elaine Whitfield Sharp, Joanne Froggatt as her mother, Susan, and Fahy and Sagar Radia as the victim's parents, according to Deadline.

The Trial of Louise Woodward hails from Matthew Barry (Industry), with Susanne Bier (Practical Magic 2) to direct and executive produce all episodes.

Sevigny previously starred in the HBO series Big Love and more recently appeared in Netflix's true crime series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
