Every year, thousands of people converge on the Black Rock Desert in Nevada for the annual Burning Man event. Hosted by the nonprofit organization Burning Man Project, the event is a week-long, inclusive gathering based on community and art.
While the event has no particular focus, Burning Man operates under a set of ten principles meant to foster inclusivity, self-expression and respect for the environment. The principles, written in 2004 by co-creator Larry Harvey, guide participants through the annual Burning Man experience.
This massive celebration of self-expression makes for some pretty interesting artwork, outfits and performances. Check out some of the coolest photos from Burning Man 2019. Part of a series.
