A moose seen wandering a New York county during the weekend started off the work week by taking a stroll on a busy stretch of highway.

Sept. 29 (UPI) -- A moose seen wandering a New York county during the weekend started off the work week by taking a stroll on a busy stretch of highway.

Sidney Jenkins-Gorman posted a video to Facebook showing the bull moose casually walking along Interstate 90 in Rensselaer County on Monday morning.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation said the moose was first spotted in the county on Saturday, in an area west of Poestenkill. The animal was also spotted Sunday in Wynantskill.

NYSDEC officials explained it is currently the breeding season for moose, and males have been known to travel great distances in search of mates.

Residents are being urged to keep an eye out for the moose on local roads and report any further sightings to the department.
