Most of nature and macro photographer Don Komarechka’s work revolves around exposing the details in his subjects that we don’t normally see. In this collection of macro photography images, Komarechka uses flowers, insects, water and a host of photography techniques to create some truly remarkable scenes.

Photography: Don Komrechka
All of Komarechka’s macro shots are specifically planned. He uses carefully selected surfaces and narrow-gauge hypodermic needles to place droplets of water exactly where he wants them.
Both shooting the photos and editing them takes about the same amount of detail and skill. Often Komarechka employs various image processing techniques and combines multiple images of the same scene in order to achieve his desired look.
Lighting also plays an important role in macro photography. A number of lights and off-camera flashes pointed at different angles cause the water droplets to glow, resulting in a more vibrant picture.
Komarechka’s macro photography of nature subjects such as insects, snowflakes and flowers open up a seemingly brand new world of visuals. Through his mastery of this very detail-oriented photography style, Komarechka decided to write a book that dives deep into macro photography techniques entitled, “Macro Photography: The Universe at Our Feet.” You can find more details on the book’s release at the link below.
