July 29 (UPI) -- The Sundance Film Festival released a video of its Boulder, Colo., venues on Wednesday. The Sundance Film Festival takes place Jan. 21 - 31.

In the video, filmmaker Carlos López Estrada takes festival director Eugene Hernandez on a tour of Boulder. The Mackey Theater is still under construction to become the festival's largest ever venue.

Technical Director Holden Payne explains the screen will be the largest in Sundance history, and they will install 240 speakers. In Park City, Utah, the Eccles Theater was the largest house with approximately 1200 seats.

Roe Green Theater and Old Main are near the Mackey on the University of Colorado Boulder campus. Colorado Chautauqua Association CEO Shelly Benford explains hopes to make the seasonal Chautauqua Auditorium year-round.

The Boulder Theater is already a historic theater.

"I always get emotional walking into an old movie theater, in the balcony on these red velvet seats," Hernandez says. "You imagine all the different stories that have been told in a place like this over 90 years."

On University Hill, The Sink owner Tell Jones tells Hernandez and Estrada of the year Sundance founder Robert Redford spent in Boulder playing baseball and working as night janitor of The Sink.

Estrada, whose Blindspotting, Summertime and Didi, which he produced, premiered at Sundance, shared excitement for the festival's first year in Boulder.

"There's this very earnest energy of possibility," Estrada said. "That to me as a filmmaker is really exciting."

The Sundance Film Festival announced its move from Utah to Colorado in 2025. They announced the new venues in February following the conclusion of its final Utah fest in January.
