Smashing Pumpkins released "Black Stars," a song for the "Hunger Games" prequel "Sunrise on the Reaping," starring Joseph Zada and Mckenna Grace.

Oct. 16 (UPI) -- '90s rock band Smashing Pumpkins has released a song for the upcoming Hunger Games prequel.

The group released "Black Stars" and a music video for the song Friday.

The "Black Stars" video shows Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and the band perform in a warehouse.

The song appears on the soundtrack for the new film The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, a Hunger Games prequel based on the Suzanne Collins novel.

"Grateful to be casting our spell on 'The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (The Album)' with our new track, 'Black Stars,'" the Smashing Pumpkins wrote on Instagram.

Sunrise on the Reaping follows a young Haymitch Abernathy (Joseph Zada) as he competes as a tribute for District 12 in the 50th annual Hunger Games. Woody Harrelson played an adult version of the character in the Hunger Games movies.

The movie opens in theaters Nov. 20, with the soundtrack to also feature a song by Noah Kahan.
