A 7-week-old kitten was given the name Freeway after being rescued from a busy interstate in Massachusetts.

Oct. 21 (UPI) -- A 7-week-old kitten was given the name Freeway after being rescued from a busy interstate in Massachusetts.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston said a witness spotted the black kitten running through traffic on northbound Interstate 93 in Woburn.

The person was able to wrangle the kitten and bring her to the ARL, where she is receiving veterinary care and a special diet to help her gain weight.

"Some say black cats bring bad luck, but this little lady is proof that every superstition has it wrong," the ARL said on social media.

Freeway is currently in foster care and is expected to be put up for adoption once she is healthy enough.
