This cafe in downtown Tokyo serves up more than just tapioca balls. The mind-bending design creates an optical illusion, making the cafe’s interior appear as though it were a flat, two-dimensional illustration, much like a comic book.

To achieve the illusion, designers chose a monochromatic black and white backdrop, painting most surfaces white and then black sketched outlines on the edges of the furniture.
