LOS ANGELES, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Ghosts star Asher Grodman praised the Season 6 holiday episodes. A two-part Halloween special airs Thursday at 9 p.m. EDT and the Christmas special will have a Die Hard theme.
Grodman plays Trevor, one of the spirits confined to the property of Woodstone Mansion. Each ghost in the series has died in a previous era of history.
In the Halloween episode, a relative of Hetty's (Rebecca Wisocky) appears in the mirror. Maria Thayer plays the new ghost, but was not physically on set for the visual effect.
"It's a lot of imagination because they're not in the mirror," Grodman, 39, said. "You're not really getting to play with your scene partner in the mirror. So it's like acting with a tennis ball but you're looking at yourself."
...
Thayer plays Hetty's sister, Margaret. The episode flashes back to when they were alive at Woodstone in the 1800s.
"As far as I'm concerned, we should be doing one every episode," Grodman said. "Zoe Sakallaropoulo, who's our set designer, is just a genius and she's able to create these other worlds in 48 hours. It's wild."
Flashbacks have shown how Trevor lost his pants at a 2000 stockbroker party. Grodman would welcome delving further back into Trevor's life.
"He just lives in that '90s world before social media took over," Grodman said. "You're at a point in the '90s where it's pre-9/11 and there's this immense sense of this party and this optimism and technology seems like it's such a force for good."
Invoking Die Hard in the Christmas episode has fun with the annual debate over whether the action film, set on Christmas Eve and featuring Christmas music, counts as a Christmas movie.
"Here at Ghosts we always chase the controversies," Grodman joked. "Trevor is involved, is part of the problem and the solution, which as the agent of chaos that he is makes a lot of sense."
Trevor still wears a shirt and tie without his pants. Grodman confirmed Bruce Willis's iconic white tank top does make an appearance in the episode.
"The white tank top will be featured in the episode though I can't tell you who's wearing it," Grodman said. "I will tell you that it's a very high stakes episode."
The living characters in Ghosts have a shift in their dynamic this season. Sam (Rose McIver) sold a screenplay so she spends much of the season on set. The characters Zoom with her.

The ghosts invite Kyle (Ben Feldman) to move in because Kyle can also see them due to a head injury. Grodman said the real cast is also happy to have a new ally.
"It's kind of brought the cast together because we can all haze him together which is so fun," Grodman joked. "He takes out the trash. He cleans up our lunches."
Grodman said UPI was the first, and still only, outlet to ask about the Navy Blue socks he wears. This time, Grodman explained the intricacies of the salmon colored tie he wears.
"That fabric doesn't really exist anymore," Grodman said. "The ties are very, very valuable and unique because there aren't that many of them."
Grodman revealed the costume and sound departments hid a microphone in his tie as well. It Velcroes behind Grodman's neck so the knot never changes.
"You can't change the knot of the tie because there's a thing in there that's holding the mic," Grodman said. "Because I know that I will only hurt it, I stay away."
Grodman still tries to get away with wearing pants in close-ups. Camera operator Simon Blouin is often the one deflating that fantasy.
"You're just very exposed," Grodman said. "[Blouin] will give me that look and he's like, 'I can see pants. You gotta take 'em off.'"
He can't even wear comfortable shoes on set, because Trevor died in brand new business loafers.
"The moment that the shoes get comfortable, they're probably also beaten up so now we have to get new shoes that are uncomfortable and break those in," Grodman said. "So it's this twisted cycle."
...
Still, Grodman admits he has it easier than other costars. Brandon Scott Jones wears an American Revolutionary military uniform, and Wisocky has a corset and wig.
"Rebecca is first one in, last one out," Grodman said. "She's got a whole journey and she gets a limited lunch because there's a whole transition period that has to happen with that costume. So nobody wants to trade positions with Rebecca."
Ghosts is based on the U.K. series created by Matthew Baynton, Simon Farnaby and Martha Howe-Douglas. Farnaby plays the ghost without pants.
The U.K. Ghosts wrapped in 2023 but just released a movie Ghosts: The Possession of Button House.
"If you love Ghosts, you've got to check out what these guys did," Grodman said. "We're all trying to live up to this incredible thing they created."
