A 93-year-old Iowa man might soon become a Guinness World Record-holder for being the world's oldest truck driver.

July 8 (UPI) -- A 93-year-old Iowa man might soon become a Guinness World Record-holder for being the world's oldest truck driver.

Orrin Asmus, who will turn 94 in August, has been driving trucks since he was 19 years old, and has worked for McLaughlin Freight for the past 11 years.

Dan McLaughlin, president & co-owner of McLaughlin Freight, had Asmus submitted to Guinness World Records after a coworker checked online and discovered he might be the world's oldest truck driver.

The current record was set by Doyle Archer, who was 92 years old when his record was updated in December 2025. He first earned the title at the age of 90 in 2024.

Asmus has driven more than 5 million miles in his more than 70 years on the job, and has hauled cargo through every state except Hawaii and Alaska.
