10 Pokémon Spotted in the upcoming “Detective Pikachu” movie

The trailer of “Pokèmon: Detective Pikachu” offers some eye candy for hardcore and casual fans alike. We'll leave it up to the Internet to decide whether the live-action interpretation does justice to the franchise's most recognizable characters. Admit it though, you know what a Charizard is, and you're curious what one might look like in real life.

The movie follows a young man that joins forces with Detective Pikachu to unravel the mystery behind his father's disappearance. Chasing clues through the streets of Ryme City, the dynamic duo soon discover a devious plot that poses a threat to the Pokémon universe. “Pokèmon: Detective Pikachu” releases May 10th in the USA.

Pikachu

We're not sure anyone can truly explain Pikachu's enduring, global popularity. He's not the strongest, rarest or even the most interesting Pokèmon character. He is, however, without a doubt the face of the franchise and its one true breakout star.

Bulbasaur

Many gamers will tell you that Bulbasaur — not Pikachu — is the first Pokémon that they ever used in battle. It's not surprising that Bulbasaur shows up early in the trailer.

Machamp and Snorlax

Machamp and Snorlax are two heavyweights in the world of Pokèmon — literally. At 1,000 pounds, Snorlax was at one point considered the heaviest monster in the Pokèmon canon.

Lickitung

Behold! A fierce Lickitung wields its mighty tongue. If anyone feared that the filmmakers would shy away from depicting some of the more absurd Pokèmon in a live-action film, the appearance of Lickitung should put those fears to rest.

Jigglypuff

An obviously irritated Jigglypuff uses its hypnotizing song to put even the heaviest of coffee drinkers to sleep.

Aipom

Aipom may lack dexterity due to its lack of fingers but stay out of the way of its hand-like tail.

Ludicolo

A cheerful Ludicolo serves up Detective Pikachu's favorite drink — hot coffee.

Mewtwo

Mewtwo, the genetically-enhanced version of the super rare pokémon Mew, makes a grand entrance. Unfortunately, he only ever cares about asserting his dominance.

Charizard

A red-hot Charizard gears up for a blistering flamethrower attack.
