Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Firefighters in Texas rushed into action when one of several escaped horses along a busy highway would up stuck in a drainage ditch.
Plano Fire-Rescue posted photos to Instagram showing the horse laying on its side in a drainage pipe at the side of Highway 121.
Officials said the horse was one of several to have escaped along the highway early Saturday morning. Police had attempted to guide the equines to a nearby property, but one of the horses became spooked and wound up in the ditch.
The horse was sedated by a veterinarian and firefighters then used a fire hose and a winch to pull the horse to where it could safely stand up.
"Thankfully, the horse walked away with only a few minor scratches," officials wrote. "An unusual call, but a great example of teamwork in action."
