BOSTON — Talk about a bounce back.

Randy Arozarena and Lazaro Montes, the Seattle Mariners’ two Cuban sluggers, strummed the celebratory trident like an air guitar, half a rock band bouncing around to imaginary tunes in the Fenway Park visitors’ dugout.

Arozarena clubbed a three-run homer over the Green Monster during a five-run second inning, and Montes hit a mammoth home run to center field to highlight his magical MLB debut in the Mariners’ 9-6 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.

A night after what might have been their worst loss of the season — which came after center fielder Julio Rodríguez allowed a ball bounce over him for a costly ninth-inning triple — the Mariners (65-74) rebounded with an early and emphatic offensive outburst to end a five-game losing skid.

Dom Canzone homered in the first inning, his 21st of the season, and Bryan Woo posted his third straight strong start on the road, allowing two runs (one earned) over six innings, with five hits, one walk and seven strikeouts.

The 21-year-old Montes, with his wife and infant son watching in the Fenway Park stands, reached base in his first three plate appearances.

He walked in the first, singled to drive in a run in the third, and crushed a solo homer to straightaway center field in the fifth.

A big-time debut for the Mariners’ big-time slugger.

Montes is the sixth player in club history to homer in his MLB debut, joining Jamie Nelson (1983), Alvin Davis (1984), Greg Dobbs (2004), Kenji Johjima (2006) and Kyle Lewis (2019).

At 21 years, 314 days, Montes is the youngest player in Mariners history to homer is his debut. He’s the first Mariners player to have multiple hits in his debut since Ichiro in 2001.

The Mariners roughed up Red Sox rookie right-hander Jedixson Páez for 10 hits and eight runs to build a 9-1 lead.

The M’s finished with 14 hits, seven of which went for extra bases.

In his Mariners debut, veteran left-hander Hoby Milner allowed a two-run homer in the ninth inning, prompting manager Dan Wilson to call on closer Andrés Muñoz to enter and record the final two outs.
