The U.S. Border Patrol has granted “90 Day Fiance” star Armando Niedermeier-Rubio a month’s-end reprieve before he must leave his ailing teen daughter’s side and return to his native Mexico.
“90 Day Fiance” profiles cross-border couples, one of whom is American, and shepherds them through the K-1 Visa process, allowing them to spend time together in person Stateside as long as they marry within 90 days. Niedermeier and Rubio starred in Season 2 of “90 Day Fiance: The Other Way,” which depicts the American half of a couple moving to their fiance’s country of origin.
Hannah, 13, is Rubio’s daughter from a previous partner, and when he and Kenny Niedermeier married, Kenny became her stepfather. The couple lives with Hannah in Mexico.
Niedermeier was reportedly at a funeral in the U.S. last month when the girl’s face started drooping on one side, coupled with a loss of strength. Doctors in Mexico had her airlifted across the border to a specialized hospital in Phoenix, but doting dad Rubio was prevented from following. He was turned away at the U.S. border on July 14 and denied a medical emergency travel visa. His spousal visa paperwork is still pending, according to TMZ.
After an extensive, public push, Rubio made it to Hannah’s hospital bedside, where other family was already gathered, including Niedermeier, who had cut his family funeral trip short. Rubio’s presence formed the last piece of Hannah’s healing puzzle, and she improved immediately. She landed back in the hospital after a short setback but at last look was home with her dads in their temporary Phoenix lodgings. Hannah is in rehab and will undergo further testing, but at this time the cause of her medical scare remains a mystery.
Although Niedermeier-Rubio is able to be with Hannah for the time being, U.S. officials have told him not to expect a further extension, according to TMZ.
