Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Actress Florence Pugh and filmmaker Zoe Kazan attended the premiere of their new Netflix limited series, East of Eden, in New York Wednesday night.
Co-starring Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist and Hoon Lee, the seven-part drama is based on John Steinbeck's classic novel. It premiered on the streaming service Thursday.
Kazan and Jeb Stuart are the show-runners.
"This modern interpretation of Steinbeck's masterpiece will explore the multi-generational saga of the Trask family, focusing new attention on its indelible antihero, Cathy Ames," a synopsis said.
Kazan's grandfather Elia directed a beloved 1955 film version of the book starring James Dean, Julie Harris, Richard Davalos and Raymond Massey.
