President Donald Trump said Monday that he was "looking at" firing U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle after she allegedly asked a Republican donor to pay her $100,000.

Oct. 13 (UPI) -- President Donald Trump said Monday that he was "looking at" firing U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle after it came to light that she asked a Republican donor to pay her $100,000 credit card bill.

Guilfoyle, who is Donald Trump Jr.'s former fiancee, allegedly asked donor Eric Deters to wire her the money to pay off her American Express card. She allegedly said she would be his "ride or die in Trump world," if he paid the bill.

"Honey please I need you to get this done for me today," she allegedly wrote in a text message.

Trump said he is displeased after learning of the ask.

"Well, we're looking at it, yeah," Trump said when asked by a reporter. "We're not happy."

The text messages tell Deters to talk to her on Signal to keep the conversations private.

"You'll literally cost me my ambassadorship," she allegedly wrote.

Her request of Deters was first reported by the Wall Street Journal. The State Department's Office of Inspector General has begun an investigation into Guilfoyle, The Washington Post reported.

"As a matter of policy, OIG does not confirm, deny or comment on investigative matters," the department told the Post in a statement."It won't show up anywhere if you wire money to American Express that's all it will show ... Please," Guilfoyle allegedly wrote to Deters in a text message. The message appears to include a PDF with instructions for paying the bill directly to American Express.

Deters said he wouldn't pay, saying he couldn't make the payment "without getting a divorce."

Deters has said he paid her $300,000 in speaking fees while he sought help with tax issues and the extradition of an Ohio doctor charged with insurance fraud who fled to Pakistan.

Guilfoyle has disputed the authenticity of the documents. As a presidential appointee, Guilfoyle serves at the president's pleasure.

Guilfoyle's lawyer hasn't responded, and neither has the State Department.
