Take the ramen eggs out of the ramen and put them on your charcuterie board. Bring to a simmer ½ cup of soy sauce, ½ cup of mirin, ½ cup of sake and 2 teaspoons of sugar. While that’s cooling, soft boil 8 eggs. Peel the eggs and place them and the marinade in a zipper bag. Allow to marinate for 8 hours, then cut the eggs in half and arrange them on your board.

Dried apricots are an underutilized fruit. Not only are they delicious, they’re actually higher in most nutrients than fresh apricots, according to WebMD. Their bright orange hue makes a color-appropriate addition to a Thanksgiving charcuterie board.

Instead of carrot sticks, use hearts of palm to add a vegetable component to your board. Purchase them jarred or canned; slice them and serve as is or marinate ahead of time in olive oil, garlic, lime juice, parsley, salt and pepper. Add red pepper flakes for a dash of holiday season color.

Shrimp make an attractive and delicious addition to a charcuterie board. Poach peeled and deveined shrimp (leave the tails on) in a simple broth, or sauté them in spicy butter. Add a simple cocktail sauce or something more fancy. The shrimp will be safe at room temperature for two hours, or you can arrange them over ice for additional longevity.
Maraschino cherries. Why not? These preserved, sweetened cherries might bring to mind the Shirley Temples you enjoyed when you were young. Look for cherries that aren’t dyed an unnatural red; they’ll add a spot of tasty sweetness to your board.
