Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Police in Poland said an African serval that escaped from a private property in the northeastern town of Orzysz returned home on its own after a few days.
The District Police Headquarters in Pisz said on social media Sunday that the feline, named Gustaw, escaped from his owner's property last week.
Servals are large cats, about the same height as medium-size dogs, and are recognizable by their large ears, long legs and spotted fur.
Police described Gustaw as "a rather gentle kitten," but warned residents to keep a safe distance if they encountered the feline on the loose.
An update Monday revealed Gustaw had returned home on his own after spending the weekend on the loose.
