June 22 (UPI) -- A Seattle neighborhood broke a Guinness World Record by gathering 830 people to eat dim sum together.
The Chinatown International District's summer kickoff block party on Thursday hosted the Guinness World Records attempt for the largest dim sum dinner.
The previous record was set by 764 people at an event hosted by radio station WSFM in Sydney, Australia, in 2019.
Organizers of the Seattle attempt said an estimated 900 people sat down to eat dim sum, but only 830 qualified for the record because some got out of their seats before the official headcount.
A Guinness World Records adjudicator confirmed the event officially took the record.
The dumplings and buns for the record attempt were provided by the Jade Garden restaurant.
"I'm happy with this turnout. And I'm especially happy we got the record since my father and the chef team made the 3,600 dumplings by hand," Jade Garden owner Eric Chan told The Seattle Times.
