An Ohio man used his own birthday for luck and ended up winning a lottery prize worth $25,417 from a Pick 5 drawing.

May 18 (UPI) -- An Ohio man used his own birthday for luck and ended up winning a lottery prize worth $25,417 from a Pick 5 drawing.

The Akron man, named Anthony, told Ohio Lottery officials he decided to use his birthday digits, 3-2-5-5-8, to play the evening Pick 5 game on May 8.

The man told lottery officials he had started using those numbers earlier this year, on his actual birthday.

The May 8 drawing brought him a $25,000 prize for matching the numbers, plus an additional $417 for the 60-way box bet he added to his ticket.

The winner said his prize money will go into the bank.
