What would life be like on Mars? Soon you’ll have the chance to find out. Architects from AI Spacefactory will be building the NASA award-winning Mars habitat called “TERA,” a high-tech, 3D printed home designed for off-the-grid living.
AI Spacefactory realized that the technology developed for long-term missions on Mars could be applied to sustainable living on Earth as well, so this one-of-a-kind B&B is a trial run of sorts for a design that has the potential to alter our environmental footprint permanently.
Take a look at this tall, cylindrical accommodation, now accepting pre-bookings for nightly stays starting March 2020.
The TERA will use NASA-tested biodegradable, planet-based materials found on Earth that were found to be three times as strong as concrete. It will be built on-site using a 3D printer and then can be broken down, recycled and re-printed in another location without leaving any trace, making it the ultimate zero-impact home.
CEO and Chief Architect David Malott said, “TERA will challenge everything we know about architecture and construction. It could transform the way we build on earth – maybe even save our planet.”
Built to intentionally minimize the impact on its surroundings, the design also seamlessly blends into the landscape.
