Perhaps one of the most unique lounges ever, Tetchan Yakitori Bar is located in Kichijoji (one of Tokyo’s suburban towns), situated on a wondrous bystreet named Harmonica Yokochi. The area retains the atmosphere of the black-market stalls during the post-World War II period.
Designed by Kengo Kuma and Associates, the interior is mostly made of recycled materials. The designers applied recycled LAN cables, which they call Mojamoja, to describe its shaggy, wooly look. Acrylic balls (left-over melted acrylic byproduct pieces) were employed for everything from interior materials to furniture. The result is an amazingly unique interior where form becomes invisible and various colors appear as if floating in the air.
