Circus Uses Holograms Instead of Live Animals

The circus is a time-honored tradition, but these days, the guilt of supporting an industry that tends to perpetuate animal cruelty means that fewer people are attending. A circus in Germany has decided the show must go on — so they’ve begun using hologram animals in place of real ones.

The Circus Roncalli began phasing out live animals in the early 1990s and eliminated them fully in 2017, adding the holograms much later. The experience is no less magical and still allows audiences to enjoy the tradition without the associated guilt.

Check out these photos from this impressive, new-age circus company.
