In Nepal, the second day of the annual Diwali festival is called Kukur Tahir – the day of the dogs. In the Hindu tradition, it is believed that dogs are the messengers of Yamaraj, the god of death. The festival revolves around celebrating the lives of all dogs by showering them with affection and tasty treats all day.
