Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Actor Andy Garcia, and singer-songwriters Barbara Mandrell and Paul Anka will be among the 2026 Kennedy Center honorees, organizers announced Monday.

Also set to be recognized for their artistic achievement will be music composer-producer David Foster and playwright David Mamet.

The ceremony is to take place in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 7.

"Since its founding in 1978, the Kennedy Center Honors has celebrated the lifetime contributions of some of the world's most influential artists in music, dance, theater, opera, motion pictures and television," the center's website said.

"This year's celebration will be hosted at Capital One Arena, a world-class, next-generation sports and entertainment destination and a fixture of downtown Washington, D.C. Together, the Kennedy Center teams will transform the arena to capture the elegance and spirit that have defined the Honors ceremony for generations."

The location has been changed from its traditional venue, the Kennedy Center opera house, to the arena amid a legal battle involving objections to U.S. President Donald Trump's plans to renovate and add his name to the building.
