Viral sensations within the music industry are nothing new, but Lil Nas X’s rise to fame was very swift and more successful than any new artist, ever. During its first week on the Billboard charts, it reached a peak position of No. 1 and racked up a mind-blowing 143 million streams, eclipsing the previous record set by Drake at 116 million. In July of 2019. the catchy country-rap tune set a new record for holding the number one spot on the Billboard Top 100 chart for a shocking 17 weeks. It surpassed both Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's 1995 collab, “One Sweet Day,” as well as Luis Fons, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber's 2017 hit, “Despacito.”
The 20-year-old Atlanta native makes sure to stay relevant through his consistent posts to Instagram and TikTok, where he shares videos of studio sessions, rehearsals and pictures with other famous musicians.
