"Paralyzed by Hope: The Maria Bamford Story," a new documentary about stand-up comedian Maria Bamford, is coming to Netflix in October.

Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Netflix is teasing the new documentary Paralyzed by Hope: The Maria Bamford Story.

The streaming service shared a trailer for the film Monday featuring stand-up comedian and actress Maria Bamford.

Paralyzed by Hope will see Bamford, 56, unpack "the mental health journey behind her fearless comedy," according to an official description.

In the trailer, Bamford recalls feeling like there was "desperately something wrong with me" as a child and details her longtime struggle with depression.

"I'd always known I had depression and there was bipolar in my family, but at a certain point, I started feeling extremely depressed," she says. "It did give me some relief being on stage."

Paralyzed by Hope is directed by Judd Apatow and Neil Berkeley, and features appearances by Patton Oswald, Tig Notaro and other comedians.

The documentary premieres Oct. 23 on Netflix.
