Spring is the time of renewal, so why not celebrate the season with a refresh of your home decor? You don’t have to do a major overhaul; a few easy changes here and there will update the look of your home and let friends and family know it’s springtime!

Welcome guests with a lovely spring wreath on the front door. Purchase a colorful premade one, or get crafty and make your own. Faux flowers paired with flowing ribbons or other decorative touches, such as butterflies, in cheerful hues will celebrate spring’s arrival.

Consider adding bouquets of silk flowers around your home. Craft and home decor stores have plenty of offerings, and nothing says spring like bountiful blooms.

Bring the outdoors inside with a spring herb garden. Use small white ceramic pots, or choose tin, if you’re going for a farmhouse look. Fill with culinary herbs such as basil, rosemary and mint and make sure the containers you choose have holes in the bottom for good drainage.

Spring is a good time to change out the textiles in your living room or bedroom. Throw pillow covers, for example, can be easily swapped with other seasonally appropriate covers. Put your heavy, wintery couch blanket or bed scarf in storage in favor of a thinner, perhaps colorful, throw.

The fireplace mantel is a blank slate for adding seasonal decor. Consider lightening up the design of your mantel with springy accents such as feathery greenery.

You might have side or end tables that are normally bare, showing the natural wood grain. Perhaps for spring, however, it might be fun to add a splash of color with a tablecloth. You could also spruce up your dining room table with a brightly colored runner.

Decorate different areas with citrus. Fill glass display bowls or a tall clear vase with faux oranges, lemons and pears. Alternatively, you can simply place groupings of oranges decoratively on your sideboard, for example.

When springtime rolls around, consider taking down your dark, heavy drapery that is better suited for winter. Hang light, sheer curtains instead. A medium-sized window in the dining room, for example, might be the perfect place for this spring update.

Add seasonal accents to your home. Use ceramic bunnies, cute lambs, or adorable chick figurines in bright yellow to pepper around your home and signal the arrival of spring. Maybe swap out wintery bowl fillers for brighter-colored objects, or replace a dark vase with a wicker basket.
