Sept. 6 (UPI) -- The MTV Video Music Awards return Sunday in New York.
LL Cool J is set to host the ceremony at UBS Arena. The show airs on CBS and MTV at 8 p.m. EDT and will also stream on Paramount+.
Late rocker Ozzy Osbourne will be honored with a tribute, while Mariah Carey, who is slated to release her 16th album Sept. 26, will receive the Video Vanguard Award.
The songstress, 56, will also take the stage with a medley of fan-favorite songs.
Lady Gaga, who has 12 nominations this year, will also perform.

How to watch
The MTV VMAs air Sunday on CBS and MTV at 8 p.m. EDT, and also stream on Paramount+.
A pre-show kicks off at 7 p.m. on MTV, BET, BET Her, Comedy Central, CMT, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land and VH1.
Participants
LL Cool J will host the 2025 MTV VMAs.
Presenters include Ashlee Simpson Ross, Brittany Snow, Ciara, Drew Barrymore, Ice Spice, Jessica Simpson, Latto, Livvy Dunne, Malin Ackerman, Meg Stalter, Nikki Glaser and Paris Hilton.
Ejae, Rae Ami and Audrey Nuna, the singers behind Huntr/x, the fictional band in the hit animated feature KPop Demon Hunters, will also present awards.
Mariah Carey will perform her hits and be feted with the Video Vanguard Award, joining previous honorees such as Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez.
Lady Gaga, Jelly Roll, Doja Cat, Post Malone, Tate McRae, Sabrina Carpenter, Conan Gray, Alex Warren, Busta Rhymes, J Balvin, DJ Snack, Ricky Martin and Sombr will also perform.
Former Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, who died at age 76 in July, will be honored with a tribute from Aerosmith rockers Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, as well as Yungblud and Nuno Bettencourt.
Nominations
Lady Gaga earned 12 nominations, more than any other artist this year. She is up for such honors as Video of the Year and Best Album.
Bruno Mars could potentially take home 11 awards, while Kendrick Lamar could receive 10.
Rose and Sabrina Carpenter are looking at 8 nods apiece, while The Weeknd could see seven honors.
Billie Eilish and Charli xcx received 6 and 5 nominations, respectively.
