Fred Armisen has purchased a historic hunting lodge in Los Feliz, Los Angeles. The former SNL star spent $4.3 million for the Normandy-style French mansion, which has connections to the infamous 1940s Black Dahlia murder investigation. The 1930s home lies on a third-of-an-acre corner site in Griffith Park and features a brick fireplace, original hand-carved doors, and woodwork throughout.

Armisen and his partner Riki Lindhome wasted no time in upgrading their living situation. Surely, they will enjoy the tri-level structure’s atypical floorplan, soaring ceilings, spacious living and dining rooms, and luxurious kitchen. The master bedroom suite, located in its own wing, is only accessible from the entryway.

A Convoluted Origin Story
The home's construction took place over several years in the late 1920s. Leona P. Wood, the original owner, was an artist, a notable feminist in the region, and a founding director of Children's Hospital in Los Angeles.

The Lost Architect
Although the original architect remains unknown, Karen Hudson believes it was her grandfather, Paul R. Williams. Unfortunately, some of Williams' private records were lost during the 1992 Los Angeles riots, making verification impossible.

Magical Or Troubled Past?
Dr. Paul DeGaston, an accused abortionist who was jailed in the 1930s and prosecuted for an abortion-related murder, eventually moved into the house before he was a suspect in the decade-long Black Dahlia murder investigation.

Luscious Greenery
Despite its rich history, the Griffith Park-area mansion is situated on a third-of-an-acre corner property and boasts old trees that shade the terraced and pleasantly overgrown garden. It's the perfect place to settle down for the two talented actors with money to spare!
